Saturday was a beautiful day for tennis, especially with some great teams traveling to Allegan. Flint Powers Catholic, #3 TC St. Francis, & #8 Father Gabriel Richard, all D4 State Finals Qualifiers in 2025, joined us for the 2026 Allegan-Tiger Invitational.
The girls had a lot on their minds yesterday, as it was Allegan’s Prom. The anticipation & excitement of the evening’s dance did not sway this group’s focus. If anything, they ramped up their focus and intensity. Most of our upperclassmen are on the doubles side of the lineup and they DOMINATED the field yesterday, winning all 4 championships. Ava Thompson had a big day yesterday, winning the 4S championship—his first varsity tournament win. The match of the day was the 1D’s win against Father Gabriel Richard for the 1D championship. Maddy & Ireland were down 2-7 in the third set tiebreak, and rallied off six consecutive points to take an 8-7 lead. The teams traded the next four points to make it 10-9, and we capitalized on a Maddy first serve to close out the match. A great win for those two ladies.
Really proud of our team championship yesterday! Looking forward to what we can accomplish for the rest of the season.
