Board of Education

The Board of Education meets regularly each month and works to fulfill the vision, mission, beliefs, and goals of the District’s Strategic Plan. Interested citizens are invited to attend meetings. There is an opportunity for public comments of a general nature at the beginning of every board meeting.

Meet the Board

Christopher Hodge President

Christopher was elected to the Board of Education in 2020. He is a chiropractor at Hodge Family Chiropractic in Hopkins. He and his wife Melissa live in Allegan with their three children, Hadrielle (Haddie), Miller, and Forrest. Christopher and his wife are Allegan graduates.

Drew Isola Vice President

Drew was elected in 2022. He and his wife, Vicki, have lived in Allegan for over 30 years and all four of their children attended APS from kindergarten through graduation. Drew taught at APS for 26 years. He currently works on the Project Management Team for Get the Facts Out, a national science and math teacher recruitment project. Both Drew and Vicki have served in a number of volunteer positions in the district for many years.

Mary Kasprzyk Treasurer

Mary Kasprzyk was elected in 2009. She and her husband Matt own and operate Ted’s Auto Body Shop. They have three children: Zach, Hannah, and Emma (all graduates of AHS). Mary is the founder and retired Executive Director of the Forever Curious Children’s Museum.

Amanda Nash Secretary

Amanda is a full-time mom, part-time nurse, and a volunteer for Allegan Heroes. She and her husband, Ryan (an APS alumnus), have two boys, Kyle and Colton. Amanda is an active participant in the education of her children and has a passion for reading and learning. She enjoys gardening and is a member of the Michigan Nut and Fruit Growers Association.

Vicki Knuckles Trustee

Vicki was elected in 2010. Vicki lives in Allegan with her husband, Paul. They have four children who have graduated from Allegan High School.

KD Lake Trustee

KD Lake was elected to fill a 2-year term on the board, beginning January 2017, and was re-elected in 2018. KD is a lifelong resident of Allegan and is the owner of Hartman-Ellis Insurance. She and her husband John have four children who attended or are attending APS (Taylor, Olivia, Peyton, and Cooper).

Brad van Melle Trustee

Brad van Melle joined the Board of Education in 2025. An AHS alumnus and local realtor, he is active in the community through work and volunteer service. Brad has served on the elementary PTO and coaches youth soccer, helping kids learn teamwork and confidence. A strong supporter of teachers, he is dedicated to community involvement and loves supporting Allegan students—including his own—in the classroom, on the field, and from the sidelines.

Meetings

All meetings will be held at the APS Administration Building, 550 5th St, Allegan, MI 49010, unless otherwise posted. Information about special meetings and virtual meetings will be posted at the Administration Building entrance and on the district website.
