Thank you for choosing Allegan Public Schools as the environment in which your student will learn and grow! This page provides you with the resources and information you need to put your student on the path to becoming an APS Tiger!

Once you have completed the application, upon approval, an email will be sent to the email address provided in the application. This approval will include further instructions on completing the enrollment process.

You will receive placement and start information from your school after the entire enrollment process has been completed.

The following resources provide information that you may find helpful as you complete the enrollment process.

Gathering your enrollment documents

The following documents are required to register your student. If it is more convenient for you, these documents can be brought to our Central Office for scanning.

  • State-issued birth certificate
  • Photo ID of the enrolling parent/guardian. This may be a driver’s license, state ID, or passport.
  • Current proof of residency. These include:
    • Rental/Lease Agreement signed within last year (must include students listed as residents)
    • Mortgage statement
    • Real estate tax bill from current calendar year
    • Current voter registration
    • Utility Bill (Water, Electric, Gas/Propane, Cable, etc)
    • Other (only accepted if submitting Notarized Letter of Residence)
    • Gas, electric, or water bill dated within the last month
    • Property tax statement dated with the current tax season
    • Proof of home purchase
    • Rental/lease agreement, including the page with the landlord and tenant signatures
    • If you are living with family or friends in their home, the following is needed:
      • A proof of residency as listed above from the homeowner.
      • Photo ID as listed above from the homeowner.
      • A piece of mail sent to you at that residence.

Additional documents needed for kindergarten and Young Fives only:

  • Hearing, vision, and dental screening results. Screenings can be completed by your family physician or through the Allegan County Health Department. Call (269) 673-5411 for more information. Screenings need to be completed within 12 months of the start of school.

Additional documents that will be needed for enrollment:

  • Copy of the student’s transcript (grades 9-12 only).
  • Copy of the student’s IEP or 504 Plan (if specialized instructional services are needed).
  • Court documents (i.e. guardianship, custody, foster care, etc.).

Schools of Choice

Students outside of the Allegan Public Schools district may apply by using the APS School of Choice Application (PDF). Please review the School of Choice Information (PDF) for additional details. If you are interested in in-district school of choice, please complete this application.

Transportation for these students is the responsibility of the parents/guardians.

Applications must be submitted no later than two weeks before the end of the first trimester.
