Allegan Girls Tennis braved the cold yesterday and hosted our annual Allegan Invitational, which included some Division 4 powerhouses. The Tigers are ranked #4 and yesterday #5 NorthPointe Christian, #7 St. Catherine, #8 GR West Catholic, Whitehall, and Black River traveled to the Gary Ellis Courts for a very competitive day of tennis.
After the last point was played and the dust settled, the Tigers took home the championship! NorthPointe Christian was close behind us all day; the outcome depended on the final match of the day, the 4D championship. The rest of the matches wrapped up, leaving the Tigers at 19 and the Mustangs at 18. Hailey & Kaylee had no idea, but the 10 point tiebreaker they were about to play would decide either the outright championship or a shared title with NPC. They stepped up big time for our team, winning that tiebreaker 10-8!
The word of the day for us was fight. We all knew what was ahead of us and we needed some extra fight yesterday against some great competition. Our girls fought well, each winning atleast two matches throughout the day and took down NPC 4-3 in head to head match ups. Couldn’t be prouder of how our girls played yesterday.
