Last night the track teams hosted a triangular conference meet against Saugatuck and Fennville. It was an outstanding night of competition highlighted by numerous strong performances, new personal bests, and scoring finishes for our Tigers.
Top individual finishers included Jayden VandenAkker, Bailee Dilley, Nevaeh Williams, Anna Billman, Bridget McKinley, Alyxandra Falor, Elilza DeLaet and Odessa Barnhart. Across both competitions VandenAkker brought home six individual 1st place finishes (100m, 100m hurdles, high jump), followed closly by Bailee Dilley who finished the evening with three individual 1sts and five individual 2nds (pole vault, 100m, 200m, long jump). Eliza DeLaet had a strong night of competition in the throws, bringing home two 1sts in the shot put, as well as a 1st and a 3rd in the discus. Nevaeh Williams added to the scoring for the Tigers, sprinting her way to four 3rd place finishes in the 100m and 200m. In the distance races Anna Billman finished with two 2nd places in the 1600m and 800m, in addition to placing 3rd in the 800m. In her first high hurdle action of the season, Alyx Falor brought home a 2nd place finish against Fennville. The 400m Relay of Eliza DeLaet, Jayden VandenAkker, Aylah Copeland and Nevaeh Williams finished 1st overall, defeating both Fennville and Saugatuck. Congratulations to Bailee Dilley (100m, 200m), Ireland Dewey (100m, 200m), Eliza DeLaet (discus) , Anna Billman (800m,1600m) and Jayden VandenAkker (high jump) for setting multiple new career personal bests on the evening!
The boy’s meet also saw numerous top finishers and new personal bests on the evening as well. Top individual scorers included Brody McDade with three 2nd place finishes in the 100m and one 1st place in the 200m. Loghan Murphy brought home two 2nd place finishes in the 800m, while Kellen Chalupa and Thomas Sigler had 2nd and 1st place finishes in the 1600m and 3200m respectively. The Tigers scored multiple points in the hurdles races finishing with a 2nd place in the 110m hurldes, who also notched a 3rd in the 300m hurldes, while his teammate Eli Bergeon earned the Tigers a 1st place in the 300m hurdles. Hauk Henrickson was the team’s lone scorer in the throws, finishing with one 1st in the shot put and a 2nd in the discus. Rounding out the field events, Nathan Martinez had two 3rds in the long jump, Ezra Smith was meet champion in the pole vault, while John DeLaet finished with a 2nd place. Thomas Sigler (1600m, 3200m), Chase Clemons (110m hurdles). The 1600m Relay (Kellen Chalupa, Loghan Murphy, Brody McDade, and Levi Earl) were meet champions. New personal records were set by Connor Dittenbir (shot put), Josh Kelley (100m), Levi Earl (200m), John DeLaet (200m), Thomas Sigler (1600m, 3200m), Chase Clemons (110m Hurdles), Hauk Henrickson (shot put), and Mason Vernia (shot put).
