Tiger families:
We are in the final stretch of the 2024-2025 school year and approaching summer break. I thought this would be the perfect time to take a moment to update you on the continued amazing progress of the 2021 bond issue. It is hard to believe that we are about to enter our fourth summer of construction projects where we are putting your generosity to work on behalf of our students.
The focus for the spring and summer of 2025 will be in two areas: continued construction of Allegan Elementary School (yes, we are excited to announce that is the official name!) and significant renovations to Allegan High School.
Just recently, we have had our students and staff leave their mark on the new elementary school by signing or leaving a handprint on a steel support beam of our new school. I believe that all the positive hopes and dreams of those that signed the beam will live in the building for decades to come. I hope that you enjoy the images below of our school community leaving their mark!
We are at an important milestone in the elementary school construction process with the placement of the final concrete roofing plank. This will allow the building to be more protected from the elements so that more interior work can be accomplished. Our kindergarten roundup students even got to take a bus ride through the parking lot of our new school to see where they will be attending in the fall of 2026. These are very exciting times!
Phase one of our high school renovations will begin over spring break with seven classrooms in the southeast wing of the building. These teachers have been temporarily relocated to other classrooms in the building. The start of phase two will align with the start of summer break. By the time students return in late August, we will have renovated numerous classrooms and four bathrooms, installed a new gym floor, and replaced the roofs over the pool, gym, and Performing Arts Center. Phase three will then begin in the fall with renovations to the northeast wing of the school. Phase four will occur in the fall of 2026 with the rest of the classrooms and media center, along with the much needed replacement and repair of parking lots and drives around the building. The Performing Arts Center will also receive sound and lighting upgrades during the summer of 2026.
As you can see, your bond dollars have been hard at work transforming the physical and educational environment for our very deserving students. It continues to be an exciting journey for our school community. Let’s finish the school year strong. Go Tigers!
