PowerSchool cybersecurity incident

Superintendent's Update

APS families:

I am writing to inform you about a cybersecurity incident that has affected PowerSchool, the student information system that is used by our district and many others worldwide. The incident is limited to PowerSchool, with no evidence of further impact to district operations.

PowerSchool has informed us that an unauthorized party used a compromised credential to access its systems to download student and teacher personal data from within our district and others globally. PowerSchool passwords were not compromised.

PowerSchool has informed its customers that it does not anticipate the data being shared or made public, and it believes that the data has been deleted without any further replication or dissemination.

The privacy of our students, staff, and families is a top priority, and therefore we understand the concern this incident may cause. PowerSchool is taking full responsibility for this incident, and we are committed to maintaining transparency and providing updates as they become available.
