It won’t be much of a “holiday break” for the construction crews that are working hard to put the finishing touches on interior projects that are part of the new addition at L.E. White Middle School. Fortunately, their efforts will allow students to walk into a brand new school science wing when they return from their break on January 4.
The addition includes five new classrooms and a commons area that can be used for student collaboration.

L.E. White Middle School science teachers recently had the opportunity to tour the new addition, and what they saw has them excited.
The new rooms offer lab work areas, sinks, additional counter and storage space, brighter and more efficient lighting, multiple electrical outlets, and safety showers. “We will have a lot more room to do lab activities, and we will now have enough outlets to use any instruments that need electrical current,” Science teacher Mike Andrysiak said.
Within the building, teachers have been scrambling to pack up their classrooms in preparation for a building-wide move that will allow for individual departments to reside in their own hallways.
Exterior work and other building projects will continue into the new year and will help give the school a needed face-lift. “It’s important for our students to be prideful of where they go to school,” Assistant Principal Chris Reeve said.
