Report an Absence
Starting this school year, Allegan Public Schools will begin using an automated student absence reporting system called SafeArrival. This system makes it easy for you to report your child’s absence and reduces the time it takes for our staff to verify attendance and unexplained absences. Click here for more information.
Absence Reporting Instructions
We ask you to report your child’s absence in advance whenever possible using one of these convenient methods which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week:
Website
- Visit the SchoolMessenger website at: https://go.schoolmessenger.com.
- The first time you use the website, select “Sign up” to create your account.
- Within the website, select “Attendance > Report an Absence.”
Phone
- Call the toll-free number (833) 474-5101 to report an absence using the automated phone system.
Email (Temporary)
- As we roll out this new system to our families, we are also temporarily allowing families to contact our schools directly to report an absence using the following email addresses only if you encounter issues with the above methods:
- Allegan High School:
- L.E. White Middle School: ms.attendance@alleganps.org
- Dawson Elementary: daw.attendance@alleganps.org
- Pine Trails Elementary: pt.attendance@alleganps.org
- West Ward Elementary:

Important
If an absence is not reported in advance, the SchoolMessenger automated system will attempt to notify you using the contact information on file with the school district until a reason is provided. If the system is unable to reach you, our office staff will follow up.
Reporting in advance ensures you will not receive these notifications.
