Tigers Honor Cam Simaz at the Southwest Classic

Allegan High School honored former wrestling standout Saturday at the Southwest Classic Wrestling Invite.

Cam showed incredible skill and character as a high school student athlete at Allegan High School.  Cam Simaz, a graduate of Allegan High School, was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments while wrestling at Allegan High School. Cam was a three time MHSAA state Champion and amassed a total of 237 wins at the high school level.  Cam helped to lead the Tigers to a 2006 State Team Runner Up and a 2007 Team State Championship.

After High School Cam Simaz went onto wrestle at Cornell University where Cam was a 4 time NCAA All American, 4 time EIWA Champion,Ivy League Freshman wrestler of the year,  Ivy League Wrestler of the year 2011 and 2012, First team All Ivy league 4 time, NWCA All Academic Team.

The Highlight of Cam’s career came when he Captured the 2012 NCAA National Championship at 197 Pounds.  Cam is a member of the MWCA Hall of Fame. Cam is currently coaching wrestling at South Dakota State University.   There to accept the banner that will hang in Allegan High School to show our Pride in all the accomplishments that Cam has achieved was Cam’s Dad Joe Simaz.  Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the sport of wrestling and all you did to make Wrestling great at Allegan High School. Cam is an incredible example of what hard work and dedication can accomplish.
