Allegan Boys showed up in Niles for a dual match wanting to show they are ready for what anyone can be thrown at them. Match 1 had Allegan facing Brandywine the team they have finished behind in the Saturday conference the last two years. Game one the team led by team captain Fletcher Beilfuss’s 245 and Gunner Evans’s 173, Allegan held off Brandywine 807 to 771. Game two was a great team effort with Senior Jacob Wesche bowling a 186 game, Allegan dominated winning 838 to 763. Baker Games Allegan took game one 188 to 100, and lost game two 162 to 201. Final score was 24 to 6 in favor of the Tigers. These boys came out hungry to show what they could do.
Allegan Girls got off to a great start against Brandywine Varsity Girls winning 22 to 8. Game one the girls lost a heartbreaker 602 to 612, the girls were led by Theresa Tice’s 134 and Brooklynn Reed’s 133. Game two the girls were determined not to fall short again Kelsey Clark put up a 150 game to lead the Lady Tigers and Haylee Thompson chipped in with a 131 game as Allegan won 605 to 540. Allegan swept the baker games winning game one 146 to 120 and game two 105 to 102. It was fun to watch these girls show such determination. They wanted this match and rallied each other to pull it off.
Allegan Boys facing Niles, the boys feeling confident after winning match one came out and manhandled Niles in game one winning 945 to 773. Anthony Barnes led the way with a 195 game, Fletcher 194, Gunner 192 and Jacob with 188, low-man was freshman Layton Bown with a respectable 176. He had a very even and solid game. Game two went to the tenth frame and Allegan pulled it out 810 to 798, Fletcher had the high score with a 206 game and Layton 179. Allegan swept the baker games, winning game one 205 to 130 and game two 171 to 126. The final score was Allegan 25 and Niles 5. Allegan starts out 2-0 in the Southern Lake Michigan high school bowling conference.
Allegan Girls ran into a very seasoned Niles girls team, the girls lost 6 to 24, however, the match games were a lot closer than the final results. Game one Niles won 680 to 614 Kelsey Clark led the team with a 143 game and Alexis Harrison had a 139 game. Game two ended in a tie 664 each, Haylee Thompson had a 162 game Alexis a 146 and Brooklynn Reed 137. Baker games Niles swept winning 168 to 98 and 171 to 120. The girls showed great heart in the match and are now 1-1 on the season.
