Principal’s Message - Allegan High School

What a GREAT start to the year!

It is hard to believe that the end of 1st Trimester is upon us!  Final Exams are scheduled for November 29th and 30th.  Also, the 30th is an Early Release Day.  2nd Trimester will begin on Monday, December 3rd.  Students will begin 2nd trimester with a brief homeroom to distribute schedules.

Please remember that it is the student’s responsibility to request an Attendance Policy Opt Out form from the teacher for any class they are eligible.  Once signed, students are not allowed to miss school other than the actual final exam day.  In addition to only one qualifying absence, the student’s overall grade in the class must be 65% or better in order to qualify prior to the final exam.

We would also like to take a minute and congratulate several teams and individuals on their accomplishments this year.  Connor Harlan qualified for state finals in cross country.  Morgan Sturman is the first AHS student to qualify for Golf State Finals.  The AHS Varsity Mens Tennis team finished 3rd in state finals after capturing another Wolverine Conference and Regional title.  The Varsity Girls Swim and Dive Team finished second in the SCC Conference Meet., and the Allegan Marching Band finished 9th in state finals.

Student Leaders have hosted a couple of fun activities this fall including the Short Court Volleyball Tournament with several teams and students participating.  They also planned, decorated, and organized the Cursed Corridors and Halloween Movie Night with over 140 students in attendance.  Student Leaders raised over $600 for a family that lost everything in a house fire, and are now running a canned food drive.  Thanks to Mr. Turner and Student Leaders for all of their hard work.

Additionally, we would like to congratulate Murray Rose on his induction into the Michigan Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame!  Murray will also receive the Wolverine Conference Distinguished Service Award at the Wolverine Conference Recognition Banquet.

What a tremendous start to the year!  Go Tigers, and keep up all of the great things that are happening at AHS!
