Coach Rose Inducted in Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame

Former Allegan High School Wrestling Coach Murray Rose has been selected to be inducted into the Michigan Wrestling Association Hall of Fame. Rose along with three other wrestling coaching legends will be inducted on Nov. 3 at the annual Wrestling Coaches Association Conference.  Great Job Coach Rose an honor well deserved for you dedication and work with the wrestling community of Allegan and the State of Michigan.

2018 Michigan Wrestling Association Hall of Fame Induction

Mt. Pleasant, MI, October, 2018—The Michigan Wrestling Association, the organization representing high school wrestling coaches (MWA) has selected Mr. Murray Rose for induction into the Michigan Wrestling Association Hall of Fame, Class of 2018. The induction ceremony will be held on November 3, 2018 at 6:00pm at the Mt. Pleasant Comfort Inn & Suites and Conference Center, 2424 S. Mission Street, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 during the fall wrestling coaches clinic.

The Michigan Wrestling Association Hall of Fame’s first induction ceremony occurred forty years ago in 1978 and inducted ten of Michigan’s legends in the sport of wrestling. This year’s Class of 2018 includes Frank Cox, Westland John Glenn High School; Victor McGuire, Annapolis High School; Murray Rose, Allegan High School; and Chris Wittenbach, Clinton High School.

Murray Rose moved to Michigan from Minnesota in 1985 and has coached at Allegan High School until his retirement in 2016. During his thirty year career at Allegan his teams have won two state titles, placed second twice, fourteen Regional titles, and twenty-four District titles, twenty-two Wolverine Conference titles, as well as, a 82% win record with 767 dual meet victories. He has coached 163 state qualifiers, 18 state champions and 26 of his wrestlers went on to wrestle in college. His coaching highlights include: State Coach of the Year (2x), Regional Coach of the Year (11x), and Wolverine Conference Coach of the Year (12x). Coach Rose is continuing to serve the sport of wrestling as a MHSAA Wrestling Official.

The Michigan Wrestling Association represents over 600 coaches throughout the state and is a member association of the Michigan High School Athletic Association, the Michigan High School Coaches Association, the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.

The Michigan Wrestling Association is very proud to induct Murray Rose in the Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Murray is a person whose work and values best mirror those of the MWA.
