Allegan won its homecoming football game on Friday, beating Sturgis 20-14. The game was very hard fought by both teams but ultimately came down to a takeaway by Junior Avery Martinez deep in Sturgis territory, with only seconds remaining. The Tigers scored with 3 seconds left as Junior Jayden Smith found Senior CJ Chenard in the end zone for the go-ahead score. Offensively the Tigers rushed for 139yds and 2 touchdowns, led by freshman Jesse Macherzak’s 41yards on 8 carries. Jayden Smith and Junior Jason Macherzak found the end zone on the ground for the Tigers. Defensively, the Tigers were led by Caleb DeKryger who had 8 tackles and 1 fumble recovery, Zac Foster who had 8 tackles, and Avery Martinez who had 8 tackles and 2 forced fumbles.
