Principal’s Message - Dawson Elementary

APS: My New Home

It is with great joy that I share my first Principal’s Message with you!  It has been a very busy start to the summer, but full of excitement and anxiousness, as I start to make Dawson and APS my new home.

I am an Allegan resident, and have been in the education field just over 20 years. I taught in the Grand Rapids area for 17 years and had my first experience as an elementary principal over in Martin for the past four years. It was very difficult for me to leave the classroom but being able to build relationships with an entire building of students made the transition easier. In my spare time, I enjoy being outside, gardening, spending time on the water (or snow), and reading. I am originally from the U.P., and the first snowfall still makes me excited. My only “child” is my 6-year old dog, Roxie, but my students have always felt like my children.

I will be working on acclimating to Dawson and APS over the summer months. Please feel free to contact me via email (gro.spnagella@repuhsr) or voicemail at (269) 673-6925 x3316 with any questions you may have prior to the school year. Our Open House is schedule for August 29, from 6-7 p.m. I will also be scheduling a “meet and greet” earlier in August for those interested in stopping by.

Many have already made me feel welcome and at home. I am truly excited to get to know all of our Dawson families over the next few months!

Continue to enjoy your summer!
