The results are in, and the hard work put in by West Ward Elementary staff, students, and our parents has paid off!
On a scale of 0-100, West Ward scored 90.95 on state’s new school rating system, which has been rolled out for the first time by the Michigan Department of Education. The system provides a rating for nearly all Michigan public schools based upon performance in up to six categories: student growth and proficiency, graduation rates, progress of students with a limited grasp of English, school quality and student success (a category that can include everything from chronic absenteeism to student access to arts and physical education), and assessment participation.
The median score for all schools in the State of Michigan is 71.89.
Even though 90.95 is a great score and something to be proud of, it still means that we have work to do and room for improvement. The staff is dedicated to improving on our score the next time the ratings come out.
